Woodware DT - Look what I did with my tin.

This week's challenge was to decorate a tin. Woodware supply a range of tins that have little accordion folded booklets inside. They are perfect for little mini scrapbooks. I was given the ATC size tin to decorate. I thought it was the perfect size to make a mini sewing kit. I know when I go on holiday I often moan that I could do with a needle and thread to sew on a button that's come off. Well not anymore...!!! I now have a lovely little hand decorated tin containing a little sewing kit.

I chose some pretty paper and cut a couple of strips to go around the sides of the tin. And to finish it off some turquoise ribbon and button.

For the lid I used one of the ATC size cards that come in the tin and covered it with a piece of double sided adhesive film cut the same size. I then peeled off the top sheet and pressed on a selection of buttons and gems in soft blues and browns. Push nice and firmly to make sure they stick. Then I covered the whole thing with crystal glitter. Press down with your fingers to make sure the glitter sticks, then tip off the excess. I then brush of any stray glitter with a big soft paintbrush.
This is a technique I used in a previous post to make a Christmas tree. It's a great technique as demonstrated by the very talented Shari Carroll from Hero Arts.  Woodware also supply great button bags in different colour combinations, just idea for this idea.

I added some pretty paper at the bottom of the tin and also on the inside of the lid. It just finishes it off.
Then I put in a few sewing basics.

I found another little tin that I covered in paper, just the perfect size for some pins and needles. When I sent this to Dorothy, she suggested it would make a great Mother's Day gift. I am last this week, so be sure to check out the Woodware blog to see some great ideas with some of the other tins that Woodware supply.
Have a great weekend. I am hoping to finish my Christmas shopping and of course watch the Strictly Come Dancing final ..!!
