Woodware DT - Sketch Challenge

Our challenge this week is another sketch. This is open until the end of April if you want to enter. Details are to be found on the Woodware blog. There is a £12 voucher up for grabs!!

I wanted to try out a couple of new Stampendous stamps that I recently purchased. The main image is of an old steam train travelling through the mountains.
I want to use this in my son's travel journal as he is planning a long train journey from San Francisco up the west coast to Vancouver.

The background was made by blending blue and brown die inks onto a 14cm square of white card stock. I then repeatedly stamped the distressed tag (also from Stampendous) over the entire card.
The edges were distress with the edge of my scissors the layered onto dark brown card.

To create the "rail track" effect along the middle, I used the Crafty Edger punch with the ribbon punch. I trimmed off the scallop edge then embossed the whole thing with Frantage Aged Silver embossing powder. This gave it the texture and metallic look I wanted.

The brads were bashed up a bit with my craft hammer just to make them look old.
I know Father's Day is not until June but for once I'm planning ahead!!
Have a good week.

  5. Another wonderful design Siobhan - you are so clever. Men's cards are not easy but I love this idea, may have to think about it for my next card, if you don't mind. Cheers Anne
