The Stamp Man - Ornament

The latest challenge at The Stamp Man is to make an ornament. I kind of cheated and made some Christmas bunting. Well it is ornamental I suppose. I work in a new hospital department and we don't have any Christmas decorations and not much in the way of funding to buy any. In fact we don't even have any pictures on the wall. So to help get into the festive spirit I thought a bit of bunting would be nice.

I blended Tumbled Glass, Stormy Sky and Pine Needles Distress ink onto the white card triangles then built up some layers. Most of the stamps are from a Tim Holtz set called Reindeer Flight CMS 052.

The rosettes were die cut from a Tim Holtz die and edged with white embossing powder. The snowflakes are made from kitchen tin foil. I have a little tutorial on how to make "faux metal" embellishments on my tutorial page if you are interested. All the stamps, inks and dies I have used are available from The Stamp Man. They are still offering 20% off and free postage over £20...so a good time to leave your Christmas wish list lying around...!!

I also made a few of these ornaments from strips of paper and a polystyrene ball.

Here's the finished result.

It's something I saw being made at a quilting event years ago with fabric, so I had a go with paper instead. You can make them on a lap tray in front of the TV. My husband keeps complaining that I spend far too much time either blogging or in my craft room. So this way I can keep him sweet and make a few decorations for work.
