Crafty Individuals - Winged Things

I have left it to the last minute to make something for the Crafty Individuals monthly challenge. I had planned to make something entirely different with angels at the weekend. It didn't work out the way I wanted so that went in the bin and I decided to make Christmas cards instead.
Then when I got home from work today I decided to have another go and pulled out this lovely CI stamp of the mallards. Bought it a while ago but had never used it.

The colours are a bit off as I photographed it tonight. The quote I used is an all time favourite of mine from Inkadinkadoo - "Childhood Garden". My Dad keeps ducks in his garden. For a while he had a drake that was mostly a Mallard. He was a fine dapper little thing. What always amazed me was the it took less time to boil a duck egg than a hen's egg! Sorry, I am getting a little side-tracked!!

The flower was made from a large and medium retro flower punch. It's one I make a lot because it has a nice shabby look to it. I found this idea in one of the Magnolia magazines. Once I had punched out my flowers from the background paper I used for the card, I over stamped the CI crackle glaze stamp. I was really pleased with the effect. I also sprayed with an iridescent gold glimmer mist. You can't see the shimmer in the photo, but it does give the flower a lovely finish.
Hope you have a good week.

  2. Beautiful card and the flower is stunning. I've had Lake Cayuga ducks, gorgeous creatures, and a Khaki Campbell, a real cheeky chappy who was definitely my favourite, so your duck story brought back some very happy memories. Elizabeth x
